In the Pink Challenge #56 - Luscious Lace

Time for a new challenge at In the Pink. This week we are challenging you to use some of that luscious lace you've got in your stash. As usual, your card or project must be predominantly pink and this time you need to add a piece of lace.

For my card, I decided to go the shabby chic route. I used some retired CTMH patterned paper (one of my favorites that I have been hoarding) and a beautiful die cut from Heartfelt Creations. I added some pearls, ribbon and a large flower and sponged the edges with some gesso and pink ink.

Now it's your turn to show us your pink and lace. I look forward to seeing what you make.

Products Used:
Paper - Rustic Cream, CTMH (retired)

Comments close at midnight on Friday, October 3, 2014 and a random winner will be announced on Saturday, October 4th at noon.

For my card, I stamped my image and colored it with copics. I used a Spellbinders die to cut it out. I stamped a separate mailbox, colored it and fussy cut it and then added it on top of my other image with some foam adhesive.

The background was created by embossing a piece of white cardstock and then lightly running a coordinating ink over the raised area. I added three pieces of ribbon down the side which coordinate with the glitter I used in the center of the flowers and then added my sentiment.

Don't forget to leave a comment here and on the other designers' blogs in order to be eligible for the $25 Heartfelt Creations gift certificate. Once again, you have until midnight Friday, October 3, 2014. You're next stop is Selma's Blog. You're going to love what she created!

I have another clean and simple card for you this month that is easy to replicate. I stamped the anchor image from the Seascape stamp set onto a piece of white cardstock and cut using the Radiant Rectangles die from Spellbinders and mounted it onto a piece of blue cardstock. I ran a piece of white cardstock through the cuttlebug with an embossing folder for some added texture and the sponged some white ink along the edges of my card base.

I found the silver bling in the clearance aisle at my local craft store and thought is was the perfect embellishment.

I've been invited to the beach for a couple of days and this will make the perfect thank you card for my hostess.

I hope you are having a great summer. My daughter and I just got back from a fun weekend of crafting at the Creating Keepsakes Convention in Lancaster. If you were following me on Facebook or Instagram, you got to see some of the fun and goodies. It's hard for me to get in the studio during the summer because I like to spend time with my family but that will change once school starts, so stay tuned.

For my project I created a tag. First I stamped the flower image with Versamark and them embossed in gold. I painted the image with some Silk acrylics that was slightly watered down. I then sponged over the entire tag with various Distress Inks in blues, greens and some pink. I spritzed with a little water for some interest and then stamped my sentiment. I then added some modeling paste in areas through a stencil.

When the paste was dry, I went over the raised areas with some gold acrylic paint. I also went around the edges of the tag with the same gold paint and also along the brown cardstock that  I mounted the tag to. The water droplets you see come from the Viva Transparent Pearl Pen. I used a decorative corner punch, a couple of adhesive gems and a grommet to finish off the tag.

This moth I decided to make a tent card using the tutorial I found on Splitcoaststampers.  I used Nestabilites dies to cut the center and placed a trimmed piece of the Fancy Lattice behind the "window" to give my card a trellis effect.

I stamped, colored and cut the butterfly using the coordinating dies and stamps. I used copics and then went over the whole butterfly with my clear Wink of Stella glitter pen. I added salmon pearls to the wings using a pearl pen. I stamped and cut the leaves and vine and then used some twinkling H2Os over top.

I had some left over Sunkissed Fleur pieces from another project. I used a gelato and some sparkly water colors to match my butterfly and then tucked them in around the frame and sentiment.

This month I decided to make a little gift box for a friend. I used the Decorative Flower Pot die and cut a front and a back and used a strip of cardstock to make the box. I stamped and cut the flowers from the Sunkissed Fleur stamp and die collection. I used a variety of Distress Paints, Glimmer Mist and Silks Acrylic paints to color the flowers. The centers were done with a pearl pen and I edged the petals with Diamond Stickles.

I also stamped the leaf pattern onto the tissue paper to tie everything together. I stamped and cut the sentiment using the included tag dies.

This box could hold some candy or nuts or even a small hand lotion. It's also perfect for a couple of seed packets for Mother's Day.

CD/DVD Holder

Today, I can finally share a quick project. Most of you will remember the mini photo album I did for my friend's daughter's Sweet 16. Another one of our friends was the photographer for the event and she contacted me to see if I could make her a CD/DVD holder for her. She asked if I could match the album which was easy since I had the leftover paper.

I replicated the cover of the album and made the matching flowers using a Heartfelt Creations die. Once again, I used a copic marker to color the pearls to match. I used a Spellbinders die that I misted with Glimmer Mist while the die was still in place after cutting and embossing (I love this about the Spellbinders dies). I also used a die cut for the word "Memories" which was also included in the original album and misted that as well for some shimmer. I added a couple of the Tim Holtz film strips behind the flowers for the final touch.

This was super easy to make and makes a great presentation.

Comments close at midnight on Friday, February 28, 2014 and a random winner will be announced on Saturday, March 1st at noon.

This month I decided to continue my obsession with mini albums and created this cute little 4 x 4 accordion album.

I stamped the flowers onto pink cardstock, cut with the coordinating die and then sponged the edges of the petals with a darker pink ink. Once assembled, I added a little Diamond Stickles to the edges.. To create the metal effect on the lacy heart, I used some Silk Acrylics in pink, green and amber to paint over the heart. I used those same colors on the metal butterfly after I applied a base coat of gesso.

This uses the Vintage Floret patterned paper from Heartfelt Creations. I used some of the scraps I had left from a previous project to decorate my pages.

I added a little pocket to hold some punched tags on the front cover and there is also another little pocket built into the accordion fold which holds another tag. The book is held closed with magnets.

Sweet 16 Mini Album

This week, one of my best friend's daughter turns 16. We attended her Sweet 16 party this past weekend and it was wonderful. She is an amazing young lady who is definitely going places. I wanted to make her something special to help her remember her day, so I created another one of these mini albums from file folders.

It's very hard to take decent pictures of these albums, so I made a short video showing you the pages. The paper is called Union Square from the Michael's Recollection line. To achieve the aged look on the frame, I used some acrylic paint and Silks glaze.

I did not keep a supply list, but if you have any questions on the products I used, feel free to send me an email at cibglazer (at) gmail (dot) com and I will provide an answer. Some of the flowers were created using Heartfelt Creations stamps and coordinating dies. The bling and chipboard pieces are from Want2Scrap and I also used various Papertrey Ink stamps and dies, as well as some Close to My Heart stamps.

I am no longer able to find the video tutorial for this project. It was pulled sometime after I made the first album so all I have are the instructions I wrote down when making the first album.

We recently had some significant snow which gave my daughter an extended weekend. We took the opportunity to get in the studio and create some gelli prints and the base of this tag is one of the backgrounds we created.

I made my own stencil using the smallest heart die from the Timeless Amour die collection by using it to cut a piece of Dura-Lar. I mixed modeling paste with Bubblegum Pink spray ink and spread it over the stencil onto my tag.

Once dry, I stamped the rose flourish image randomly and also stamped my sentiment. I added some White Linen spray ink along the edges and a little over the top of the raised stencil. I also added it to the edges of the red cardstock. I used gel medium to attach the lace heart frame, which I had previously painted with iridescent medium, over my sentiment. I also dabbed some gel medium in random areas to allow me to attach some glass glitter and a couple pieces of chunky glass filler.

I used my copic markers to create an ombre color on some seam binding and threaded it through an eyelet at the top. For some final glitz, I went around the lace heart with a glitter line pen.

I hope you had a wonderful holiday! My husband's family came down and we had a wonderful Christmas despite the fact that I was not feeling too well. I did, however, manage to make this little pocket album for my Christmas pictures.

I used the Frosty Blanket Patterned Paper pack and a couple of pieces of cardstock for my photo mats. I used the Gold and Walnut 3D Paint on a chipboard frame from Want2Scrap and then went over the whole thing with some iridescent medium which gave the chipboard the look of real metal. I used some foam to pop up the frame so you can slip in a picture. I printed the month and year on a piece of cardstock and cut it into a banner.

I stamped and cut out the poinsettias and then sponged on some of the Rose 3D stamp paint and added Gold Stickles to the edges of the petals. I also used some gold ink to edge the cover and added some metal photo corners to the two edges to finish it off. After I cut the leaf flourish, I used an acrylic glaze on the leaves to add some shimmer.

Below is a short video to show you the inside pages. Please pardon my voice as I am just recovering from a sinus infection.

This card was inspired by one I received from Linda and Emma Lou for Christmas a couple of years ago. I wanted to make one similar that would also be easy for me to teach as a class and I came up with this. When I held the class, my ladies loved making it.

I cut and stamped the flowers and then edged the petals with stickles and added a little Gold Flower Soft to the centers. The "book" page was curved a little to give it some dimension. Once the pieces are cut and stamped, the assembly is very easy. This is the perfect card for Christmas or even a holiday birthday.

I made a cute little 4.25" square card which could easily be used as a tag. I stamped and then colored the image with my copics and then cut it out using one of the Labels 18 dies. I used the black Wink of Stella glitter pen to outline the butterfly and the clear pen on the flowers. I then added a couple of gems to the body and a pearl to the center of one of the flowers.

The background paper is from the Countryside Evening paper collection and I cut it using one of the Marvelous Squares dies. I added a couple of pearl flourishes behind my popped up image for a finishing touch.

This weekend, my mother-in-law will celebrate her 80th birthday! I love making cards for her because she really appreciates the work that can go into making them. Although my usual style is clean and simple, she prefers the more elaborate cards I make, so I wanted to make her something special and I am really happy with how this turned out.

The Aztec Gold Sunflower stamps (now retired) are one of the first stamp sets I purchased from Heartfelt Creations. I LOVE sunflowers and I am so glad I picked this one up. I stamped and cut the flowers using the coordinating Blossoms Two die from Spellbinders and then I painted the sunflowers using a couple different colors of Silks acrylic glaze. I edged the flowers with some stickles for a little glitz and added Cacao Elements to the centers.

The sentiment is also a Heartfelt Creations stamp that I had received as part of a class I took a couple years ago at CKC. I edged the top and bottom with a line of pearls from Want2Scrap.
