Sweet 16 Mini Album

This week, one of my best friend's daughter turns 16. We attended her Sweet 16 party this past weekend and it was wonderful. She is an amazing young lady who is definitely going places. I wanted to make her something special to help her remember her day, so I created another one of these mini albums from file folders.

It's very hard to take decent pictures of these albums, so I made a short video showing you the pages. The paper is called Union Square from the Michael's Recollection line. To achieve the aged look on the frame, I used some acrylic paint and Silks glaze.

I did not keep a supply list, but if you have any questions on the products I used, feel free to send me an email at cibglazer (at) gmail (dot) com and I will provide an answer. Some of the flowers were created using Heartfelt Creations stamps and coordinating dies. The bling and chipboard pieces are from Want2Scrap and I also used various Papertrey Ink stamps and dies, as well as some Close to My Heart stamps.

I am no longer able to find the video tutorial for this project. It was pulled sometime after I made the first album so all I have are the instructions I wrote down when making the first album.

Flower Soft Scrap It Frame It Blog Hop

Today, the Flower Soft Design Team are showcasing a new product called Scrap It Frame It.  Basically, they are frames that can be altered in many ways.  Hopefully, you have seen some of the creative ways the other DT members have worked with these, but if you haven't, be sure to start at the beginning of the hop so you can.  I promise you will not want to miss these.

For mine, I added some paper and a couple of embellishments.  It was really easy to do and the finished product will make a nice addition to my daughter's room.

You're next stop on the hop is Jen's delightful blog.  I have also listed the complete Hop list so you can make sure you haven't missed anyone.

CKC Envelope Album

Once again this year I attended classes at the Creating Keepsakes convention in Valley Forge.  I learned a lot of new techniques and a few twists on some I already know.  One of the classes I took was "Making the Ordinary Extraordinary" sponsored by SEI.  We made this beautiful 18 page book from 5 1/4" x 7 1/4" kraft envelopes.  We were able to complete about half of the pages in class and were sent home with complete color instructions so we could finish at home.  I love the way it turned out and I think the SEI classes are awesome.  This is my second one (I took one lasy year that I loved) and next year I think I will take more.

Here is a slide show of the completed pages.

Party Pages

These are the last pages I did for my girlfriend's birthday album.  This two page layout was taken from the Cherish how-to book.  It's called Asymmetric.  I used the Tickled Pink paper pack because it just screams party to me.

This last page is also from Cherish and the layout is the first page of Silver Screen.  All the edges were sponged with Blush ink.  I added a couple of stickers but mainly left it free of embellishments so that when she puts her party pictures in she will be able to add what she wants.

To complete the album, her family added pages they had created.  All together it made a lovely album which I am sure she will enjoy paging through.

Love Layout

This layout was done with That's Amore paper which is one of my favorites.  These pages have a lot of dimension because of the embellishments.  The "Love" and the hearts are gel stickers.

I framed the wedding picture using Blush CS and patterened paper.  All of the edges were sponged with Chocolate ink.
I printed the journaling on Colonial White CS and cut it out with my nestabilities heart die and used the die as a stencil to sponge a light layer of Blush ink around the words.  I added a white rose to the heart and the corners of the picture.
I sused a Martha Stewart punch on the corners of the mat and then stamped the largest corner flourish from the Key to My Heart stamp set in the top left corner and a smaller one in the bottom right corner.  To the flourish I added small pink adhesive pearls.
On this page I layered a button on a flower to accent the picture.  Again I printed the journaling onto CS.  I used one of my favorite Martha border punches on the patterened paper and one again all the edges were sponged with Chocolate ink.
While I was making this page, I accidentally dropped my ink pad on the bottom of the page so I decided to go with it and "drop" it in a few more places which created a shabby chic background.  I'm so glad it worked out because I had already glued the picture down.  I love when an accident turns out well.  ;)

One More...

Bear with me now; I have one more layout using Felicity to show you.

The design for this layout came straight from the Imagine how-to book.  It's called "Everything in Its Place".  I changed the picture sizes and where I placed the journaling.

The journaling was printed on CS and cut with a nestabilities die.  All the edges were sponged with Chocolate.

I added some dimensional stickers from my stash to complete the layout.

Music Lessons to Law School

This layout also uses patterned paper from the Felicity paper pack.  I paired it with Sorbet and Desert Sand CS.

For this page, I ran the Sorbet CS through my cuttlebug using the music notes folder and then sanded the embossing to bring out the white core of the CS.

The ribbon is from my stash but was a good match for the Sorbet.  I used an EK Success scallop punch and added some flowers. The word "Graduate" was stamped directly on the CS.

I found the music and graduation stickers at Michaels.
I used a corner punch (again EK Success) and accented with a sparkly sticker and placed them on the corners of the journaling.

(Clicking directly on any picture will make it larger.)

Another Felicity Layout

Happy Independence Day everyone!  Here is another layout I did with the Felicity paper pack.  This time my inspiration came from the the Introduction layout in the CTMH Imagine how-to book.

I used an EK Success border punch and added some stickers to the page.  I printed out the journaling and then cut it out with a nestabilities die.
This page uses one of the die cut papers from the pack.  (My girlfriend's dogs are so cute, aren't they?)
To compliment the torn paper on the first page, I used my edge distresser on the cardstock and patterned paper and then added some embellishments from my stash.
Hope you have an awesome day!

Felicity Layout

Here is the second layout I did for my friend's album.  I used the Felicity paper pack and stamp set from CTMH and the design is a variation of the one included in the kit.

I used Barn Red and Sorbet ink and sponged all the edges with Chocolate ink.

Some of the paper in this kit was already die cut into these awesome shapes.

I stamped the images from Cherished Flourishes in Barn Red ink and added rust colored adhesive pearls I picked up at Michaels.  The little flower was stamped in Sorbet ink.  The paper flowers are from my stash.

I used the rock and roll technique for this flower.

To make this flower, I cut out flowers from Barn Red and Sorbet CS using PTI's Beautiful Blooms II #1 die set.  I then spritzed them with water and crinkled them up.  When they were dry, I gently rubbed Chocolate ink over the creases and on the edges. I layered the flowers and added a tulle flower on the very top and a rust pearl to the center.

I also added these pearls to the decorative points on the die cut paper and also to the center of the swirl in the corner.

Out of My Box and Off to Convention

Yesterday I posted the card I made for my girlfriend's birthday. Over the next several days, I will be posting some of the layouts her family commissioned me to do for a commerative scrapbook for her 40th birthday. Scrapbooking in general is out of my realm of expertise so I was a little nervous about accepting the job, but my girlfriend assures me that she likes what I put together. All I can say is thank goodness for the CTMH how-to books which I relied heavily on for my layout designs.

This is the first page of the book and is a combination of two layouts in the Reflections Scrapbook Program (CTMH). I used a combination of Bottom Border Tucked In and Footnotes. Just in case your wondering, I smudged my friend's face in the picture as I am a strong believer in maintaining client privacy (the original picture does not look like this).

The picture her daughters gave me was black and white and I decided to go with that theme for this page.  The words came from a PTI stamp set called Top Ten.  I used nestabilities to cut out the tags and distressed the edges with black ink.

I used CTMH Grey Wool CS which I distressed along the edges and patterned paper from DCWV.  Amazingly, I found stickers that matched the paper perfectly. This sentiment is from PTI's Out on a Limb Sentiments.

I used CTMH Create a Shade paint on the chipboard and it gave it a shimmery silver look.  I covered the chipboard "K" with patterened paper from the DCWV glitter pack.  I also added some crystals to the patterened paper for added bling.

Next week, I am off to the CTMH Convention.  I can't wait to see all the new product that will be available in the coming months.  I will be tweeting and updating my new Flower Foot facebook page so for those of you interested, please be sure to follow me on twitter or "like" my FB page.  You can find the links on the sidebar.
