Happy New Year!

This holiday season I discovered a new drink. New for me anyway because I rarely drink. It's called an Eggnog Martini and it's really yummy. Here's the recipe: 1 oz. Eggnog, 1 oz. Vodka and 1 oz. Amaretto. Pour over ice in a shaker; shake, pour and enjoy! Cheers and Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas!

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas filled with laughter, joy and happiness!

A Gift Card For Teacher

PTI - Holiday Tags

My daughter's holiday party yesterday was a ton of fun.  The Santa S'mores were a big hit and so were the candy canes.  During the party, the class presented their teacher (who is awesome) with homemade Christmas cards they made over the past month.  They also presented him with a Visa gift card for which I made this holder.  Inside I signed all the kids names.

I used CTMH Jingle Creative Basics and the PTI Holiday Tags stamp set.  PTI has really been a life saver this season for those quick and easy tags.  Stamp, punch and go!  Of course I always add a little Sakura glitter pen for some glitz.

Santa S'mores

Just in case any of you thought I was slacking, here is what I have been working on.  This year I am the homeroom mom for my daughter's class so I am responsible for organizing the holiday parties and I always like to have some kind of goodie bag to hand out, so for today's party I thought it would be neat to give them something fun to make over the holiday break.  Santa S'mores!!!!  (I was thinking of you, Sarah and Leslie.)

Each bag contains a Hershey milk chocolate Santa, 2 graham crackers and handful of holiday marshmallows.  I stamped "Holiday Wishes" onto a scalloped circle and used CTMH Jingle Creative Basics and alternated Tulip and Juniper cardstock to make the toppers.  I then printed the directions on Avery labels and affixed it to the back.  I had to make 20 of these but I made a couple extra just in case.  The hardest part was finding perfect graham crackers that weren't broken...and not eating the Santas.  ;)

Holiday Envelopes

I am not a huge fan of giving money as a gift for the holidays but in some cases it's what is expected so I made these cute little envelopes just for such ocassions.

I used my Sakura glitter and glaze pens to add some  glitz and dimension to the tags before attaching them to the removable belly band.

The paper and stamp sets used for this project are all from Papertrey Ink.

Now I am off to finish the treats for my daughter's holiday party tomorrow.

Candy Canes for Classmates

PTI- 2009 Holiday Tags

My daughter likes to hand out treats to her classmates for the holidays and this year she decided on candy canes.  I stamped the snowman image onto CTMH Colonial White cardstock, colored him in with my copics and punched him out with a 1 3/4" circle punch.

I used a Sakura clear glitter pen to put a dot in the center of each snow flake to give a little extra sparkle to the image.

I then attached him to the front of the candy cane with a little Liquid Glass (after I found out that glue dots do not stick very well on the cellophane).  I then punched out 2" scalloped circles in PTI Pure Poppy cardstock and had my daughter fill out the names of her classmates and attached those to the back of the candy cane.

Now she is all ready to hand these out at her holiday party on Wednesday.

Snow Day!

This is video my DH shot this weekend in our yard after the "Blizzard of 2009".  It was our first significant snowfall which hampered our plans for some last minute shopping but the girls had a blast and that's all that really matters.

Christmas 2009

PTI - Tree Trimming Trio, Signature Christmas

A good friend and I decided that this year we would make our Christmas cards.  The hardest part was deciding on a design.  I wanted one that could be mass produced rather quickly (I needed 100) and one that my husband would like too.  If you follow my blog, you have already seen some of the contenders, one of which won Honorable Mention at Papertrey, but in the end, this is the 2009 Glazer Christmas card.

I knew as soon as I saw the Tree Trimming Trio stamp set from PTI that I wanted to use this image for a Christmas card.  This particular tree is my favorite in the set but it is a large image, so I only stamped a portion of the tree in Ripe Avocado ink.  I then stamped the ornaments in Pure Poppy ink and added stickles for a little sparkle.

Yes, that is indeed a Martha Stewart pine branch border punch you see.  I also punched the star from some gold handmade paper I bought at the LSS.  The outside sentiment is from PTI's Signature Christmas stamp set.  I also stamped a sentiment on the inside which is from the Peaceful Poinsettia stamp set.

I stamped the envelope as well with a little Christmas flourish from an Inkadinkado stamp set I found in the clearance section at the LSS.

I have to say, I am pleased with the way these turned out and hope the recipients are just as happy.

Flower Soft Chirstmas Wreath

PTI-2008 Holiday Tags

Here is a little 3x3 card made from some of the leftover scraps from my Christmas cards, which I am happy to say are finally done and will be mailed tomorrow (yeah!).  I love this paper from Papertrey.  I used Ripe Avocado and Pure poppy and Ripe Avocado ink.

To make the wreath, I used my nestabilities to cut out a ring.  I then applied glue and the Vintage Christmas Flower Soft to almost the entire ring.  I left a small empty space so I could attach my bow.  When my wreath was dry, I used a little liquid glass to attach it to the card.

Well, I am off to bake some cookies.  Have a happy Sunday!

Sketch 116 - Mojo Monday

CTMH-Snowfriends

It's been awhile since I have done a Mojo Monday sketch but I finished putting together my Christmas cards today and thought I would give this a try. I have a million and one other things I should be doing but... well you know how it is.

Now for the details. The image is from the CTMH Snowfriends stamp set and was stamped in Memento ink and colored with copics. I used Prisma glitter for the snow.

The snowflakes are three different Martha Stewart punches. I cut them from the same background paper and then colored the tips with a Sakura clear glitter gel pen. In person, the snowflakes really sparkle.

The center of each snowflake is a sticker which I found at Michaels. The background paper is from the DCWV Holiday Collection Winter matstack.

The circles were cut with my nestabilities. You can click any of the pictures to enlarge them.

Horsing Around

Here is my daughter's entry in the challenge over at Sarah's blog for Amy's sketch. Kara used gel pens to hand draw the horse and the sentiment as well as her horseshoe embellishments. She used a punch for the flower and added detail with...what else but gel pens. Kara LOVES her gel pens!!!

Thanks for taking the time to look.

Honorable Mention

I woke up this morning to such a pleasant surprise. As I was checking my favorite blogs, I saw a familiar card in the November Honorable Mention category for best simple holiday card on Nicole Heady's blog {capture the moment}...it was mine! It's the card pictured below.

For anyone interested, you view the original post HERE. I cannot tell you how thrilled and honored I am to have a card in the same category with such talented crafters. I hope you all have a wonderful day! I know I will.

Dude, You Rock

We spent last week in Boston with my husband's family for the Thanksgiving holiday which was a lot of fun and very relaxing for me since I am the one who usually does the cooking every year. Before we left, you may recall that my husband was hanging shelves in my craft room for me which caused all kinds of chaos and I am still organizing! (I promise I'll post pics Carla...when it's presentable.) Anyway, this card is for Richard as a thank you for all the hard work it took to put up the shelves (I won't mention all the expletives). He did a fantastic job and everything is level!

My card uses a digi stamp and I wish I could tell you whose it is but I downloaded it before I started keeping track of where I was getting them. I colored it with copics and used nestabilities to cut out the image. I used a cuttlebug embossing folder on Black CTMH cardstock for the background and then sanded until the music notes came through with the white core. The sentiment is from PTI's Signature Greetings and the stamped music notes are from CTMH's April Word Puzzle. I didn't go heavy on the embellishments since this was a "guy" card and I have to say Hubby loved it.

This card also manages to qualify for a very special sketch challenge issued by a budding crafter who is showing some awesome talent. The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree in this instance. That's Amy's sketch above and she happens to be my friend Sarah's daughter. I am so happy I got to play along!

Well, things are going to get really hectic around here with Christmas cards to make, shopping to do and tons of baking so I may not post as often as I would like but I hope you'll still check in.
