Odds and Ends/This and That

If you are anything like me when you're working on a project, your area is strewn with bits of paper and ribbon that you just wouldn't dream of parting with or "gasp" throwing away. Here's a nifty little solution (albeit a temporary one) to keep things tidy. Stash your precious scraps in one of the little drawers. The best part is you can make one of these cabinets to match your decor using one of the many paper choices Close to My Heart has to offer (had to throw in the shameless plug) and embellish to your hearts desire. These are handy in the kitchen, bathroom (think hair accessories) or just about anywhere. Are you hooked yet? If so, join me for a "Cabinet Making" Workshop Thursday, July 16. Wedding Shower Invites

One of my ladies asked if I would come up with sample wedding shower invites and hold a private class for her and a friend. These are the samples I came up with. She recently ordered the Cupcake Sprinkles stamp set so I made the Joy Fold card and taught her how to use Liquid Applique and some sprinkles for a fun effect. We also made the Box in a Bag (or Bag in a Box) as a possible favor.

3x3 Emporium Note Card Box Set

This is a template I created for a box that holds (4) four 3x3 note cards and matching envelopes. Look for a workshop on this coming in the fall.

Post-it Note Book

This is the 3-D project we created in our Embossing Class on Thursday. The ladies really loved this one. One side holds a post-it note pad and the other has decorated pages for pictures or notes. The ladies embossed their initial on the front cover in Copper EP.

Embossing Class

I held an embossing class with a wonderful group of ladies. Two of the projects are shown below. One of the cards (not shown) is a gift card using next month's Stamp of the Month, Tender Tags, which I will post on June 1 for the Stamp of the Month Blog Hop. It will make a perfect teacher or graduation gift so check back. I will post the 3-D project we did this weekend.

This For You card is an example of using a sponging tool to "pop out" a clear embossed image. We stamped the flower onto Colonial White cardstock and then shaded around the flower using Taffy and Sorbet ink.

Do Me A Favor (Part I)

A Brownie Valentine

Today I taught a class to some wonderful girls in a local Brownie Troop. They made a 3 x 3 Valentine card and a sour cream favor that we filled with Hershey Kisses. The card has a little surprise when you open it...a pop-up heart. The girls really enjoyed random stamping when making the favors and they all did a fantastic job!

Since February is a short month and the kids have several days off from school, I decided not to have a workshop or class but I will have Stamp Camp for the kids. OSW Workshop

These are pictures from today's workshop. The ladies created 9 cards and a really cute tote to carry them from one sheet of B&T Emporium from the Creative Basics paper pack. Also used were Vineyard Berry card stock and ink and Colonial White for the card base. The sentiments are from the Say It In Style stampt set. The ladies did a great job! It's hard to believe another year is almost over. No fear! I have some great things planned for 2009. The kids will not want to miss any of the projects planned for Stamp Camp and the adults will also want to participate in fun and creative workshops. There will also be several Girls' Night crops throughout the year and if you would like to host your own Girls' Night gathering, feel free to contact me. Some of you may wish to start a Hostess Club this year and get together with your friends once a month to create projects and learn new techniques.
