Going Vintage for WCMD

Today is World Card Making day (there are links and info on my Thursday post) and I decided to step out of my comfort zone and make a vintage style Holiday card.  I also decided to enter this into the PTI Make-it-Monday challenge since I used this week's technique of making your own chipboard embellishment.

I used cereal boxes to cut several layers with the Christmas Tree die and used Vintage Cream CS for the top layer.  I stamped several lines from the Music Sheet background stamp and then assembled my "chipboard" using a glue stick. When it was dry, I sprayed with adhesive and covered the whole tree with glitter.

I used glimmer mist to color the Wilton doily to a complimentary color.  I also ran the greeting through the Linen impression plate to add a more distressed feel and I sponged the edges of all the cardstock with ink.

I love how the tree looks and it was a lot of fun to make.  I know I will be using this technique often.

1 Card, 3 Challenges

Happy Monday to you!  It's raining....again but what perfect inspiration for a Sympathy card right?  And it just so happens that is the Make it Monday Challenge this week over at PTI.  This card also qualifies for the challenge at Mark's Finest Papers which is to use tone-on-tone stamping and pop up the sentiment.  Here I used CTMH Bamboo ink on PTI Fine Linen cardstock and then popped up the whole center panel.

The final challenge that this card qualifies for is a new one I discovered a couple weeks ago but haven't had the time to play.  It's a fairly new challenge blog with an awesome Design Team and wonderful inspiration called CAS-ual Fridays.  This week's challenge was to use bling on a CAS card.  I used adhesive backed pearls from CTMH and also added a little sparkle to the leaves using my favorite Sakura clear glitter pen.

I know it's Friday, but here is my entry for this week's Make it Monday challenge for Papertrey.  The challenge this week is distressing.  I went with a Clean and Simple one layer card and stamped a couple of the images from PTI's Larger than Life in Versamark and then went over them with chalks.  For my distressing, I tore the edge of the cardstock on one side and then sponged it with Terra Cotta ink, the same ink I used for the sentiment.  Quick and easy but with a sophisticated look.
