July Heartfelt Creations Alumni DT Hop

Welcome to the July Heartfelt Creations Alumni DT Blog Hop! Be sure to comment along the way in order to be eligible to win the $25 gift certificate to the Heartfelt Creations Store. There is a list of all the participants at the bottom of the post so make sure you visit all the blogs for a better chance at winning. Comments close at midnight on Friday, August 1, 2014 and a random winner will be announced on Saturday, August 2nd at noon.

I have another clean and simple card for you this month that is easy to replicate. I stamped the anchor image from the Seascape stamp set onto a piece of white cardstock and cut using the Radiant Rectangles die from Spellbinders and mounted it onto a piece of blue cardstock. I ran a piece of white cardstock through the cuttlebug with an embossing folder for some added texture and the sponged some white ink along the edges of my card base.

I found the silver bling in the clearance aisle at my local craft store and thought is was the perfect embellishment.

I've been invited to the beach for a couple of days and this will make the perfect thank you card for my hostess.

I hope you are having a great summer. My daughter and I just got back from a fun weekend of crafting at the Creating Keepsakes Convention in Lancaster. If you were following me on Facebook or Instagram, you got to see some of the fun and goodies. It's hard for me to get in the studio during the summer because I like to spend time with my family but that will change once school starts, so stay tuned.

In the meantime, don't forget to leave a comment here and on the other designers' blogs in order to be eligible for the $25 Heartfelt Creations gift certificate. Once again, you have until midnight Friday, August 1, 2014. You're next stop is Selma's Blog. You're going to love what she created!

Flower Soft Father's Day Tag

This week, the Flower Soft Design Team is showcasing Father's Day projects. How appropriate since Father's Day is this coming weekend! Hopefully we will inspire you because I know how hard it is to make masculine cards.

I decided to make a tag this time and it was pretty quick and easy. I used a recent Impression Obsession acquisition - Woodgrain Cover-a-Card - to stamp the background for my tag. The focal image is from Heartfelt Creations called Waters Edge. After I stamped the image, I colored it with my copic markers and then added a little Ultra Fine Flower Soft in Earth for some texture.

Be sure to check out the Flower Soft Facebook Page and the Blog for more inspiration this week.

This week the Flower Soft Design Team is showcasing a new collection from Elizabeth Bell. The images are adorable and are available in clear stamps and also in digital format.

For my card, I chose the Sailing digital stamp which I printed out and colored with Copics. I added some Ultra Fine White Flower Soft to the clouds for a little texture. The sentiment comes from the Coffee Time clear stamp set.

If you do chose the digital route, not only do you get the stamp, you also get frames, backing paper and the ability to create shaped cards. You also get the image as a Sepia or Black & White polaroid. There are so many options with these digital collections. The best part - this week the downloads are on sale at 50% off so you will get 27 files for only @3.99. Take a look at all the different images HERE.

Be sure to check out the Flower Soft Facebook Page and Blog for more inspiration this week.

Heartfelt Creations - Water's Edge

Happy Wednesday! I have a Heartfelt Creations card for you today using a stamp set from the newest Balmy Breeze collection.

I am on a roll with masculine themed cards and here is another one, although this could easily go either way. I love the combination of Kraft and Black cardstock so I stamped my image onto Kraft and colored it in with copics. I added a little Opaque white to areas of the water and on the duck. I used one of my new Spellbinders dies for the frame and popped the stamped image up in the center. By using minimal embellishments in the same color as the frame, I think this would be a perfect guy card.

I also used second generation stamping on the cattails image to finish off the inside of the card which I left blank for a sentiment or to use as a notecard.

I hope you will check out the Heartfelt Creations Blog to see what the other Design Team members have for you this week.

CTMH - Let Your Light Shine

Today I want to show you one of the cards we made in this week's card class.  Believe it or not, Father's Day is creeping up on us and this would make a fabulous card for that special guy in your life.  It would also make a great birthday card.

To make the background, I used two of Impression Obsession's Cover-a-Card stamps - Newsprint and Canvas.  I stamped the first using Walnut Stain ink and then went over it with the Canvas using Vintage Photo.  I also used the Vintage Photo to ink the edges.  I love the visual texture you get with these stamps.

I also dug out my crimper and used it on a piece of kraft cardstock and then inked over the raised bumps and edges with Vintage Photo.  The focal image was stamped with Versafine Vintage Sepia ink and adhered to the card base with some foam dimensionals.

I love the way this card came out, especially since I usually have such a hard time with masculine cards.  I can guarantee I will be making several of these and keeping them in my stash.

Products Used:
Stamp Sets - CTMH Perfect Day; IO Cover-a-Card Canvas and Newsprint
Paper - PTI Cream, Dark Chocolate, Fine Linen and Kraft
Ink - Walnut Stain and Vintage Photo distress inks; Versafine Vintage Sepia

Heartfelt Creations - Simply the Best

Happy Wednesday! I have two Heartfelt Creations projects to show you today.  Both of them use a technique where you can make paper look like leather.  I have a tutorial posted HERE with step-by-step instructions.

My first project is a tag.  After I made my "leather" paper, I stamped and die cut the hat an boot. I used some scor-tape to adhere three strands of twine that I twisted and knotted on the each end. I did a lot of sponging along the edges of my image and the tag for that worn look to compliment the leather.  This tag is perfect to add to a masculine gift bag.
My next project is a magnet.  Again, I used a Spellbinders die to cut a piece of the leather paper and to also cut a piece of chipboard.  To make the the horseshoe, I adhered a piece of aluminum foil to some chipboard and then die cut with the coordinating die from the My Guy Collection.

For full instructions on how to create these projects and to all see what the other Design Team members came up with, please visit the Heartfelt Creations Blog.  Thanks for stopping by.

Flower Soft Ovals Challenge: Father's Day

This has been a busy week for me.  I taught two card classes back-to-back and there was a lot of prep involved.  This was one of the cards we did.  I gave the ladies options on the sentiment and some chose to make it a Thank You or a Sympathy card.  I went for the Father's Day card since the paper could be considered masculine.  I worked it out so the card could do double duty and work for this week's Flower Soft Sprinkle Challenge (FSC29), which is to use ovals in your project.  You can get all the details HERE.

To make the focal point in this card, I used my acrylic block as background stamp.  I inked it up with Bamboo ink and then spritzed it with water and then stamped onto my oval cardstock.  After I dried it with my heat tool, I stamped my image and then added my Ultra Fine Earth Flower Soft to the cattails and assembled.

Okay, now it's your turn.  Don't forget to upload your projects to the SCS gallery usinfg the keywords flowersoft and FSC29 so I can come and take a look.
