Flower Soft - Little Birdie Hexi Box

I have a cute project for you today using Flower Soft's Little Birdie Toppers. They are Spellbinders compatible and come in cream and white. I used the cream here and cut it with the Hexagon Nestabilities. I also added a little butterfly from the Summer Die Cut Paper Flowers Collection.

To make the box, simply trace two of the largest Hexagon die and cut it out. Then cut a piece of cardstock to 2.5" x 6.75" and score at 2.25" from each end on the long side and .25" from each end on the short side. Cut the short score lines and adhere to the inside along three sides of the Hexagon using a strong tape. I used Scor-tape here.

I edged all of my cardstock with gold ink and also ran the ink along the top of the honeycomb embossing and the edges of my tissue paper.

Flower Soft Scrap It Frame It Blog Hop

For my project today, I wanted to showcase some of the patterned paper.  I used it to transform this $1 frame from Michael's into a wonderful home decor piece.  The saying is actually preprinted on one of the sheets and I simply cut it out and placed it into the frame.  I also used some of the patterned paper to create the gorgeous aster in the corner.  The butterfly is also part of the stamp collection.

I have two projects to show you today.  The first is a card I created that could easily be used as a Sympathy or First Holy Communion card.  Instead of using the die to cut, I decided to emboss it onto white cardstock.  I went for a monochromatic look and mounted the focal panel onto Soft Stone cardstock from PTI.  I also die cut the flowers from a combination of white and Soft Stone cardstock.

The center cross is also cut from Soft Stone and if you notice a little shimmer, it's because I sponged some Inka Gold - Silver onto the flowers and the cross, as well as the embossed panel.  I then added adhesive pearls to the center of the cross and to the centers of the flowers.

My second project is an altered acrylic frame.  For this project, I stamped and colored the gorgeous cross from the Cross and Lilies stamp set and then used a nestabilities oval to cut it out.  For the background, I used a brayer to ink up the inside of an embossing folder to create that two-toned embossed look.   This would also be perfect for a Communion, Confirmation or Wedding photo and yes, that adorable little princess is my daughter.

First up is my Holiday Door card.  Some of you may remember my Ribbon Wreath video tutorial from last year.  Well, when I first saw this stamp set, I knew I wanted to add a wreath to the door.  After I made the wreath, I added little confetti hearts and a red bow.

Basically what I did, was stamp the door in Memento ink, color it with copics and then cut it out.  I used a gold paint pen for the handle and then I used foam tape to pop it up on my card base.

For my Love Ornament, I stamped my images onto tissue paper using Memento Rich Cocoa and then ripped it into little pieces.  I adhered the pieces onto my glass ornament using Modpodge and while it was still wet, added glitter.  The bow was made from seam binding, dyed with reinker and glimmer mist.  I love these ornaments so much, I am teaching a class on how to make them next week.

Just My 2 Cents

What can you get for a penny these days?  Not too much unless you go to Staples for your back to school supplies shopping.  They had notebooks for a penny each!!  Of course I bought the limit which was 6 and then went to another Staples to get 6 more.  As you can see I, altered two of them for my daughter and her BFF.

I used scraps from a DCWV paper pack and the yet to be released School Rules stamp set from CTMH.  The paper is very glittery since both the girls love things that sparkle.  I also added a little more glitter in certain areas with my Sakura glitter pen.

I used chipboard letters for their names, painted with the Pearl Create-a-Shade paint from CTMH.  I sponged some black ink around the edges of the letters to make them pop.  I also reinforced the holes on the side with some heavy duty eyelets and used a lot of scor-tape.  Maybe these will at least last for the first day.  :)

I embellished with some sparkle flowers and brads I had in my stash and viola! super cute notebooks for two special girls.

Veranda Dry Erase Board

This is one of the projects I was commissioned to do over the summer.  My friend asked me to make a dry erase board for her kitchen to help keep her and her family organized.  She wanted "white" space for each family member so she could leave messages.  The frame is 16 x 20 and I used CTMH's Veranda Level 2 paper pack and the coordinating My Stickease to create this dry erase board.  I also added sports stickers I purchased from the LCS and stamped each boy's name to personalize their respective message area.  I love the title sticker which says "Enjoy Life Everyday" and thought it was perfect for this project.

September Stamp Camp Projects

These are the projects that the girls made yesterday at Stamp Camp. The first one is a dry erase board made from frames I purcahsed at Ikea. Some of the girls decided that they would use them as picture frames instead and wanted the word "ME" instead of "NOTES" or "TO DO" stamped on the blue cardstock. Each one came out just a bit different and the creativity was just amazing.

The second project was a popsicle card which they all thought was really cute. Many of them chose to use different colors for their flowers.

On a different note, thanks for all the comments and emails on Gallup's adventures. My husband has returned home from San Fransisco and Gallup has many stories to tell to the great delight of my daughter. Apparently in addition to Chinatown, the horse has been to wine country and over the Golden Gate bridge. Not bad for a stowaway!

Home for the Summer

Today was the last day of school and I had to say goodbye to an awesome teacher. It is a gift when a teacher can balance the fine line between discipline and nurture and we were lucky enough to have such a teacher, especially during the time of my mother's passing. It is comforting to know that your child is in capable and loving hands. Our family has learned a lot from her. As a thank you gift, I made her this dry erase board from a picture frame and matching card. I kept seeing these dry erase boards while blurfing (blog surfing) and decided I had to try making one.

The card recipe came from the new Close to My Heart Wishes Card Confidence book which is an excellent resource for card layouts and technique. It has now become my "go to" book when I get stuck. This card is called Down the Middle and all the guesswork was done for me including measurements and a beautiful color picture of the finished card. I just substituted Notebook Level 2 paper for my card.

Our homeroom mom made a really terrific scrapbook of the year which was presented to the teacher along with a gift card. It was the least we could do for someone who takes such good care of our kids.
