Flower Soft Wire Works - Feel Better Soon

Today I have a Flower Soft Wire Works card for you using Fuchsia Flower Soft. I have to admit that my daughter came up with the idea of using the wires as a flower and I went with it. I love how she inspires me!

I went for clean and simple to show off the flower. My base was embossed with the Linen impression plate from PTI but unfortunately, it's not showing up in this picture. For the panel, I did second generation stamping of the text along the bottom and then with the same ink, stamped my sentiment. I added matching ribbon along the top of the text and popped on my flower. This was a really simple card to make.

To make the flower, I used a 1/2" circle punch and added a glue dot. After I bent the wires into a petal shape, I attached them to the circle. I then cut another 1/2" circle from matching cardstock, added another glue dot and placed it on top. The wires are so easy to work with and bend very easily, making shaping them a breeze.

Heartfelt Creations - Wonderful Birthday

Happy Wednesday to you! Today I have a birthday card for you using one of my new favorite stamps. I told you you would be seeing this one again.

Instead of black and white, today I used cream and added a little Aqua Mist which I ran through the cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots embossing folder. I also added a little bling to the flourishes as well as to the ribbon. What's great about this card is that where I have the Aqua Mist, you could add just about any color.

Birthday Dreams Easel Card

My mother-in-law asked me if I would make a card for her to give a friend for her birthday. She loved the card I gave her last year for Mother's Day and said she would like one similar so I went to work and came up with this.

I made the same background paper as I had on her card. First, I did a second generation stamping of the Elegant Word background stamp in chocolate and then continued random stamping with images from PTI's Life, also in second generation chocolate. To make my focal point, I cut and embossed two layers in consecutive sizes from the Labels 1 die. I used the Tea Dye Duo heavily on the larger die and then edged it with a gold paint pen. I repeated the same process for the smaller die cuts I used for the stopper. I also edged the Dark Chocolate cardstock with gold paint as well.

On the base, I cut Dark Chocolate cardstock on the diagonal and used a border punch along one edge. I also stamped it with the Impression Obsession Scratches Cover-a-Card stamp. The stickers are from K&Company and I added some pearl swirls and a chocolate striped ribbon. The completed card is 5" x 5" when it's closed.

CFC36 - B&W Love

I made this card for the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge this week which was to make a card using black and white only.

To make this one-layer card, I simply masked off the bottom portion of my base with post-it notes and random stamped the flourish from one of the new stamps from Heartfelt Creations' Chateau Gate Collection. I love this image, so be prepared because you WILL see it again. I then stamped the large sentiment, added a ribbon and a couple of black gems for the finishing touch.

Flower Soft Step it Up - The Kiss

This week we are stepping it up with one of the new card kits from Flower Soft. This sweet image is from the Mabel Lucie Atwell 3D card kit. Aren't they just so adorable? The kit contains everything you need to make easy, adorable 3D cards, including the envelopes and the foam dimensionals but today I wanted to show you what you can do to step it up a little.

Since the images look vintage to me, I decided to go in that direction for my stepped-up card. I chose a background paper from a Melissa Frances paper pack; inked and distressed the edges using the CTMH Edge Distresser. I cut my image using a nestabilities die and stamped over the entire image with my Impression Obsession Cover-a-Card Scratches stamp and then inked it with the Tea Dye Duo inks to give it that aged appearance. I added some Prima roses from my stash and some seam binding to finish it off.

Wouldn't this make a fabulous Valentine card?

Heartfelt Creations - Mystic Hideaway

Today I have another card made with one of the stamps from the newest Heartfelt Creations Chateau Gate Collection. This one is called Mystic Hideaway and just like the other stamps in the collection, there is so much you can do with it.

I decided I didn't want to color so I pulled out my Ultra Fine Strawberry Flower Soft and added it to the leaves of the arbor to give the image a pop of color. The only coloring I did was the bark to make the arbor look more complete. I also did some random stamping on the Pure Poppy panel to add some texture and interest.

Flower Soft - Coming Up Roses

This week's Flower Soft theme is Everything's Coming Up Roses/ Daisies or any flower. For my project, I chose the rose image from CTMH's Dreams Come True stamp set which I stamped using Hollyhock ink. To incorporate the Flower Soft, I used a couple of strips of 1/8" Scor-tape and sprinkled the Flower Soft to create a border. I didn't add a sentiment to this one because sometimes I need just a blank card.

Heartfelt Creations - Blue Birdies

Today is the release of the new Chateau Gate Collection from Heartfelt Creations. This collection is awesome and has such versatility. The dies are fabulous and wait until you see all the stamp sets - perfect for coloring with pencils, watercolor or markers.

For my project, I chose the Dainty Blooms and Birdies stamp set and used my copics to color the image. To make the gorgeous archway, I used the die to cut the gate and then removed the doors. I also removed the doors from the stamped Chateau Gateway image and colored the bricks with my copics. The leaves come in the same die cut collection. The bee was a dimensional sticker from my stash.

Ebelskivers!

I had never heard of Ebelskivers until one day, before Christmas, we had walked into Williams Sonoma looking for something (I'm not sure what) when we saw the lady behind the counter making these round doughnut thingys. The aroma was mouthwatering and just as I was about to ask what they were, my daughter exclaimed with delight, "Mom, ebelskivers!" "Evil what?" At first, my husband and I didn't even understand what she was saying. She told us she had had them at a friend's house and they were amazing. Of course we had to try them and she was right - absolutely delicious! Basically, they are round pancakes with filling. The ones at the store were filled with an apple cinnamon mixture and we were told you could fill them with almost anything.

Fast forward to Christmas morning when to my surprise, I received an Ebelskiver pan from my husband and daughter! I didn't get a chance to break it in until New Year's day when we made a couple of batches, some with mashed strawberries, some with mashed bananas, and some with strawberry preserves. The ones with the strawberry preserves taste almost like a jelly doughnut. This weekend, we filled some with cream cheese (delicious) and my husband tried a couple with buffalo chicken dip (he loved them). They are a lot of fun to make! Williams Sonoma sells the pan, the pancake mix, and the turning skewers. You can also find the pan on Amazon (a little cheaper) and as for the turning skewers, we found that a pair of wooden chopsticks works fine.

HERE is a site that has a couple of recipes for the batter and some different fillings, but really you can even use pancake mix made with Bisquick. As you can see, we topped ours with powdered sugar but you can also top them with maple syrup or in the case of the buffalo chicken ones, with ranch dressing!

We are having a lot of fun trying different fillings and this has become a great Sunday morning family activity. If you have ever heard of these or made them, please leave me a comment telling me your favorite filling. We are always looking for a new Ebelskiver adventure...

Heartfelt Creations - Birthday Treat Box

Good morning and Happy New Year! I hope you all enjoyed the holidays and made some cherished memories with friends and family. I had my in-laws here for Christmas and then we had some friends over for New Year's. Things were hectic but it made for a fabulous time.

Today I want to share with you a project that is perfect for a birthday or even Valentine's Day. I found the tutorial for this adorable little treat box on SCS HERE. I used patterned paper from CTMH's Sonoma paper pack and then embellished with flowers I made using Heartfelt Creations' Flora Grande 1 and 2 stamp sets. You can get the measurements and all the details of how I made my box on the Heartfelt Creations Blog. You'll also see some amazing projects made by the other members of the Design Team so I hope you'll check it out.

Once again, I used the Inka-Gold paste in Old Gold and Violet to create my flowers. This time, instead of using a cream or white cardstock base for my flowers, I used light purple and sponged a light coat of the Violet paste on top and then sponged the edges with the Old Gold. I also sponged the edges of my sentiment and mat with Old Gold. I love the shine you get because it's subtle and gives any of your projects an elegant look.

For my treat, I added a small bag of pretzels because all the Christmas candy was eaten; most of it my me. You could also add a stash of small cards, tags or even a couple of votive candles. Isn't that a great little gift for a birthday or hostess?

For my project, I usedthe adorable Mimi in Paris stamp set from Penny Black to create a Valentinecard. Isn’t she just so cute? I stamped the image in Memento Tuxedo Blackink and then colored her with copics. Iused an oval nestabilities to cut out the image and then matted with PennyBlack cardstock cut using the largest of the Beaded Oval dies. I added glitter to her wings and then usedNeon Pink Ultra Fine Flower Soft for the flower in her hair and also for thelittle heart I cut out with a Martha Stewart punch.

The cardstock base isalso from Penny Black and is wonderful to work with. One side has a color and the other is whiteso it’s perfect for cardmaking.

Heartfelt Creations - Blushed Love

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa. My in-laws came down for the holidays and it was wonderful to see them. I feel so blessed to have them in my life!

Today I am switching gears and getting ready for Valentine's Day with this card. I used the newly released Flirty Fleurs stamp set from Heartfelt Creations, along with the Large Elegant Words background stamp. My base is cut using the largest die from Spellbinders Labels 8. I added Liquid Pearls to the centers of my flowers which were cut with the smallest Posy Patch die.

My Christmas Wish

Here's a quick card I wanted to share with you on the Christmas Eve. I had some left over die cuts from PTI's Shape-up Snowman in Pure Poppy and White felt that I wanted to use and this is the result. I embossed a little flourish at the top with a cuttlebug border and added an embossed line underneath, stamped my sentiment from PTI's Think Big Favorites #8 and added the hat. Super simple.

My in-laws arrived yesterday and we are in full holiday swing. I hope all of you are celebrating and enjoying time with family.

Heartfelt Creations - With Love

If it's Wednesday, that means I have another Heartfelt Creations project to show you and an announcement you will not want to miss. With the holiday fast approaching, I have been busy getting the house ready and doing some last minute shopping for when my in-laws arrive (tomorrow)! I haven't had too much time to be in my studio but I didn't want to miss the opportunity to show you something made with a stamp set that will be retiring the year. I just love the flowers you can create with the Vintage Wildflower sets from Heartfelt Creations. They coordinate with the Peony Nestabilities from Spellbinders.

For this one, I stamped and cut the largest three flowers and then colored with my Inka Gold. I added glitter to the tips of the petals. For my background, instead of cutting the Layered Scallop Posy die, I chose to emboss it onto the edge of the cardstock and then went over the raised part with some ink. I added a little bling and stamped my sentiment.

Flower Soft - Happy Holidays

Happy Holidays from Flower Soft! Our challenge this week was to create a holiday themed project using Flower Soft. I chose to use one of the Vintage Christmas Toppers for my card today.

I cut out the focal image with a circle nestabilities and mounted it onto a scalloped circle and then popped the whole thing up on Pure Poppy cardstock cut with the Tag Sale #4 die. For the background, I used a Tim Holtz Sizzix embossing folder. I sponged all of my cardstock with the Tea Dye duo inks to give it that aged, vintage look. I then added some Ultra Fine Flower Soft in Strawberry, Sage and Pine along the border of my image to add that extra texture and dimension.

I have to say, using the toppers makes cardmaking super easy!

Christmas Warmth and Love

Happy Monday morning to you! Today I want to share another card I made during the Winter Wonderland VSN over at SCS. This challenge was to incorporate music into your project and again, you only had 45 minutes to complete the project.

Once I had the layout in my head, this card was fairly easy to execute with the help of some beautiful K & Company stickers. I used the largest of the nestabilities to cut the center of my cream cardstock and then ran it through the cuttlebug for some texture. I then stamped the sentiment from JustRite's Christmas Nested Sentiments (now retired I believe), sponged and then cut it out with a smaller nestabilities. I sponged all the cardstock with Tea Dye ink and then began the assembly. I love how it turned out and how easy it was.

Flower Soft - Lavender Birthday Wishes

Flower Soft has just introduced the most beautiful line of digital papers and images. Not only is the selection of flowers gorgeous, but the images coordinate with existing Spellbinders' nestabilities which makes card making so simple. For my card, I chose the Lavender image and the coordinating backing paper. After printing the image, I used the circle nestabilties to cut it, stamped my sentiment and then mounted it onto a Wilton Doily that I spritzed with Fully Purple and Riptide Glimmer Mist.

A Little Holiday Music

Here's a little something to get you in the holiday spirit. Last night, my daughter performed solo for the first time at the school where she is taking voice lessons. She's only been at this for about two months so we are very proud of her. Enjoy!

Heartfelt Creations - Shining Star and Oh Christmas Tree

Today I want to show you a couple of cards I made for Heartfelt Creations. This first card uses the Shepherd Scene stamp set which is so beautiful. I wanted to keep it simple and highlight the scene so I stamped the image in brown ink. I embossed the sentiment in gold and for the flourishes on at either end of the tag, I painted with a gold paint pen. I also used the paint pen and a straight edge to go around the edges of my card. I wanted to highlight the star so I added glitter and a bit of bling. I also added glitter to the path leading to the Bethlehem. You will be able to see this if you click on the picture to the left.

This second card uses one of my favorite stamp sets. As you can see, I used the same sentiment but you get a completely different feel with this card.

To achieve the winter wood look, I ran Kraft cardstock though the cuttlebug with the Woodgrain impression plate from PTI and then lightly sponged white pigment ink over it. After I stamped the tree, I added glitter to it which was very hard to photograph. You may be able to see it better if you enlarge my close-up.

I have one more to show you using this same stamp set. This time, I was playing around with the concept of depth perception so I stamped a portion of the large tree from this set off the left side of my cardstock and then stamped the trio so that it looks further away. Again, I added glitter to the trees and I also used my Sakura clear glitter gel pen to outline the nestabilities frame.

Equine Christmas

Today I am featuring a card I made with a couple of new acquisitions. Over the Thanksgiving holiday, Impression Obsession was having a sale with free shipping. I have been looking at their stamps for awhile and this gave me the perfect reason to order, especially when I saw this stamp. I also ordered the Cover-a-Card Scratches and Mega Mount which I had been eyeing for some time. I put the two together and then added a little color with my new Touch Twin R2 (Old Red) marker (which I won over at the Touch Twin Blog), and here you have the result. These markers blend very well with the copics I already have so I added a little Copic R24. It's hard to see in the picture, but I sponged the edges of the red cardstock with Inka Gold.

I am entering this into the Touch Twin Furry Friends Challenge for this week. If you think horses aren't furry, then you've never seen them when their Winter coats come in.

Let it Snow Globe

This weekend was Winter Wonderland VSN (Virtual Stamp Night) over at SCS and although I couldn't play along live, I did get a chance to play on Sunday. One of the challenges was to create a miniature Winter Wonderland in the form of a snow globe. You only have 45 minutes to complete your card, so I set my timer and this is what I came up with.

I cut the "globe" using a circle nestabilities die and also used that die to trim my snow banks. I stamped the snowflakes in CTMH White Daisy and then went over them with Perfect Pearls. I also used Perfect Pearls on the tree and punched snowflakes to add shimmer. I ran the background through my cuttlebug using an impressabilities folder and then lightly sponged the same white ink over it to pop the impression a bit. I really like how this turned out. It reminds me of last year when my husband built a "luge" with the snow in our backyard and the neighbors came over and took turns sledding down. Of course, I was inside making hot chocolate.

Heartfelt Creations - Petals of Joy

I used two colors of Inka Gold paste on Pure Poppy cardstock to achieve that velvety shimmer on my flower. The photo picks up only a fraction of the shine on the flower and the card. This is one of those cards that looks so much better in person.

For the pearl center, I didn't have a color to match the creamy, pearlescent patterned paper, so I used a copic marker (E33) on a white pearl and it matched perfectly.

Flower Soft - Think Snow

It's that time of year when it's starting to get colder and thoughts of snow are tickling at the edges of your mind. Will we have a white Christmas? Exactly how much snow will we get this season? I don't know about you, but I enjoy at least one good snow storm, as long as there is nowhere I have to be. I love to watch the flakes fall and accumulate on the tree branches to create a peaceful, serene wonderland. My daughter likes to go out and play in the snow and build a snowman with her dad or her friends. I like to watch from inside (where it's warm) and have the hot chocolate ready for when they come in from the cold.

Today's Flower Soft theme challenge (FSC41) is "think snow" and I thought this card kit was perfect! I sponged some Tumbled Glass and Stormy Sky distress inks on the top and decoupaged the snowman and the kids. I then added some Ultra Fine White and Polar White Flower Soft. These kits are awesome because there is no cutting involved. Each decoupage piece is a punch-out which makes this such an easy card to assemble. My card base is 6" x 6" and the image didn't even need to be trimmed!

The image is from the Christmas Snow Buddies card kit available at Flower Soft but only for a limited time because unfortunately, it will be retiring soon along with some other favorites.

Good Monday morning to you! You didn't think that just because my term on the CAS Design Team at Splitcoast ended that I wouldn't still play along with the challenge, did you? This week's challenge (CAS147) was to use twine or thread on your card.

Last week's featured tutorial on SCS was how to make Spirelli string art. I remember doing something similar when I was very young and I knew I wanted to give it a try and this week's CAS challenge was the perfect opportunity.

I used a PTI die to cut my focal point and used CTMH White Daisy Sassy Strands (retired) to make my Spirelli. I then embossed a snowflake and punched it out with a 1 3/4" circle punch. I sponged the edges with white pigment ink and popped it up in the center of my larger circle. Of course, I had to add some bling!

I really like the way this one turned out and I love blue and white at this time of the year.

Heartfelt Creations - Flirty Fleurs in Yellow

I decided to take a break from holiday cards today so here's a one I made for Heartfelt Creations using one of the flower images from the new release, Flirty Fleurs. Isn't it a beautiful image?

I stamped he image onto a piece of white cardstock and then colored it with copics. I then cut it out using a Nestabilities die and sponged around the edges and towards the center with some Tea Dye Duo ink. I cut out a couple of the small flowers with the coordinating Posy Patch die so I could pop them up onto the main image. I framed the image with die cuts of the flourish from the Perfect Petals dies. Very Merry Snowman

This week is my last as a Design Team member for the 2011 CAS Fall DT over at Splitcoast. A whole new group of talented ladies are about to take over and based on what I have seen so far, you are in for a real treat this Winter!

This week was a sketch challenge and we had Denise's beautiful card as our example. I chose to keep the design elements the same but instead of the paper piercing around the image, I stamped snowflakes and added a little sparkle to each with some bling. The snowman was stamped in white pigment ink and then embossed with white embossing powder.

First up is my Holiday Door card. Some of you may remember my Ribbon Wreath video tutorial from last year. Well, when I first saw this stamp set, I knew I wanted to add a wreath to the door. After I made the wreath, I added little confetti hearts and a red bow.

Basically what I did, was stamp the door in Memento ink, color it with copics and then cut it out. I used a gold paint pen for the handle and then I used foam tape to pop it up on my card base.

For my Love Ornament, I stamped my images onto tissue paper using Memento Rich Cocoa and then ripped it into little pieces. I adhered the pieces onto my glass ornament using Modpodge and while it was still wet, added glitter. The bow was made from seam binding, dyed with reinker and glimmer mist. I love these ornaments so much, I am teaching a class on how to make them next week.

Peace and Let it Snow

This week's CAS Theme Challenge over at Splitcoast is Christmas or Winter. I had a completely different card planned but my Papertrey Ink order came in Saturday and of course I started playing and these are the two cards I came up with. They are essentially the same and I couldn't decide which one I liked better. I am leaning towards "Let it Snow" but my husband and daughter preferred "Peace" (below).

I used the largest of the Damask Snowflakes die on a piece of Soft Stone cardstock (my new fave). I then attached a piece of glttered pattern paper behind it. I cut some SS White with the other snowflake, sprayed with adhesive and added mica and glitter. I popped the panel onto a white card base and rounded the bottom corners. I really do like both and they are just soooo sparkly. If you have the time, leave me a comment and let me know your preference.

Heartfelt Creations - Oh Holy Night

This is a CAS Christmas card using the trio of trees from Magnificent Spruce Trees. I stamped the image using Versamark onto Enchanted Evening cardstock and then embossed with silver embossing powder. I added some silver metallic ribbon on one side and mounted the panel onto a white card base embossed with Swiss Dots. Super simple with a lot of shimmer.

Heartfelt Creations - One Like You

I was so excited to receive my welcome package as a Design Team member for Heartfelt Creations. Their generosity is amazing and my team members are fabulous and so very talented. You will definitely be inspired by some of their fabulous creations. What I really like is the variety of styles that each member brings to the team and the fact that Emma Lou and Linda encourage each of us to be true to that style so I hope you will join me and the other DT members over the next several months as we show you what can be done with this wonderful line of stamps and dies.

Today I want to show you one of my Design Team projects for Heartfelt Creations. This one was a little hard to photograph because it has a lot of sparkle so I have a few close-ups for you. It really looks so much better in person.

For this card, I masked off a corner of my cardstock and stamped the Daisy Patch background in Versamark and embossed with clear embossing powder. I then sponged some distress inks over the area and then removed the mask. I placed a strip of scor-tape along the edge of the sponged area and added glitter. I also did the same along the edges of my base cardstock.

To make the little flower in the corner, I cut the small flowers from the coordinating Daisy Patch die set, sponged with the same distress inks and then shaped with my Paper Blossoms tool kit and mat. I layered the two flowers and added a pink pearl in the center and then I applied some glue to the petals and sprinkled more glitter.

Flower Soft Winter Blues

For my project, I used the Flower Soft Christmas Snow Globes card kit. I picked one of the fabulous images and cut it out with an oval nestbilities die. I then did some fussy cutting of the coordinating pieces (very therapeutic) and attached them with foam dimensionals. I mounted the panel onto another piece of cardstock cut with a nestabilities die. For my background, I stamped the Large Elegant Words stamp from Heartfelt Creations in White Daisy pigment ink onto a lighter blue cardstock. I also inked all the edges with the white pigment ink to give my card that snowy look. I then added some Really Reasonable Ribbon and cut out the included sentiment and popped that up as well. For the final touch, I added a little Ultra Fine White Flower Soft to the trees and rooftop and then added some pearls. Viola!

Simple Birthday

I used an impression plate on my base card and popped up my focal panel. I added a little glitter to the streamers and stars with my Sakura glitter pen and added a little bling to the present. Very simple and super easy.

Vintage Santa

Today is 11-11-11. How cool is that?! It's also Veteran's Day so I hope you will all join me in a gigantic shout out to all the brave men and women who have kept, and continue to keep, our glorious country safe and who preserve our rights and freedoms. I will be forever grateful for their service!

Now on to my project (short and sweet today). Here's another attempt at a vintage card. I stamped the Santa and colored with copics and then cut out and antiqued with PTI's Tea Dye duo inks. I also inked the edges of all the cardstock and believe it or not, I actually sewed along the edges. I glimmer misted my paper doily for just a hint of sparkle. Celebrate the Magic

Really all I did was swap out her flowers with these flourishes and made it a Christmas card with the sentiment. I also used my Viva Pearl pen to add a little something to the tips of some of those flourishes. This was such a quick and easy card to make and easily mass produced so don't be surprised if some of you see this card in a couple of weeks. :)

Sympathy in Blue

This week, my neighbor's mother passed away. It's been almost three years now since my own mom passed and I still feel the sadness, so I can empathize with the grief my neighbor is feeling. I wanted to make a simple card to show that we were thinking about him and his family at this time and this is what I came up with. Unfortunately, I don't think the camera was able to pick up the fact that I used a Linen impression plate on the card base. I also used one of the sentiments from PTI's With Sympathy on the inside.

For my card, I decided to use some paper I have had for such a long time that I don't even know who makes it. I used an oval nestabilities die to cut out the turkey and mounted it onto one of the Spellbinders Fancy Tags. I added Burnt Sienna and Sage Ultra Fine Flower Soft on the tail feathers. The sentiment was also fussy cut from the same sheet of paper. So if you have some paper you don't know what to do with, a little selective cutting and some Flower Soft could be just the ticket.

In the Meadow We Can Build...

...a Snowman! Isn't he just adorable? This is for the Splitcoast CAS Challenge (CAS142) this week to use Brown, Red and Ivory. I hope you'll play along.

To make this one layer card, I cut a mask using the PTI Shape-Up Snowman die and placed it on my Rustic Cream card base using removable adhesive. I then used the Tea Dye Duo to sponge the outline and then Chocolate ink to stamp the face, buttons and the sentiment. Leaving the mask on, I then sprayed with adhesive, removed the mask and added my glitter. Unfortunately, PTI didn't include stampable arms in their Snowman Accesories stamp set so I stamped the arms from CTMH's All Decked Out. I cut the hat from Pure Poppy cardstock and ran it through my cuttlebug with a Sizzix embossing folder to create the look of a knitted cap. It's hard to capture in a picture but this card is so sparkly and it was easy and fun to make.

Walking in a Winter Wonderland...

Yesterday, I showed you one of the silhouette cards I made using PTI's In the Meadow stamp set. Here is the second one.

This time I cut three trees from the Love Lives Here: Holiday die collection and I used one of the Spellbinders impressabilities plates. I stamped the sentiment after I ran it through the cuttlebug for this card. I also used a different type of glitter on the snow drifts but I think I like the chunky glitter better. Again, I popped up the top layer of "snow" and tucked one of the trees in between the two drifts.

These cards are really putting me in the holiday mood. How about you? Are you busy making holiday cards yet?

Dashing Through the Snow...

In the Meadow is not a set that I had even a remote intention of getting, but lying awake one night, I saw this card in my head and that was it....I was done.

This is such a fun set to play with and I am really liking the silhouette cards that can be created with it. For this one, I first stamped the sentiment onto a piece of vellum and then ran it through my cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots embossing folder to mimic snow. I added chunky glitter to the tops of snowdrifts and cut out my silhouette pieces using the coordinating dies and some True Black cardstock. Then it was super simple to assemble.

Heartfelt Creations - Exciting News

As some of you know, I was selected to be a semi-finalist for the Heartfelt Creations Design Team. We were sent some awesome stamps and dies with which to create two projects for submission to the finalist round. Today, I want to share those projects with you and also let you know that I am officially a member of the Heartfelt Creations Design Team! I cannot tell you how excited I am to be creating projects with their wonderful line of stamps and dies. I also want to congratulate the other new members as well as all the finalists.

Now on to my projects. The first one is a home decor plaque that I created by using a nestabilities die to cut several layers from a cereal box and then adhered them together with a glue stick. I sandwiched the hanging ribbon between two of the layers. I made flowers using the Posy Patch stamp set and the coordinating die. To add color, I used the direct to paper technique with a couple of complimentary ink colors and then sprayed with some Glimmer Mist. Aren't they beautiful?

My second project is a card using another one of their fabulous flower stamps and the Inka-Gold paste. This time I used Gold and Copper Inka-Gold to color the flower and then added a little copper glitter to the edges. I added a little Flower Soft and glitter to the center. I paired this gorgeous flower with the Book Frame 1 stamp set cut with a nestabilities die.

These flowers are so easy to make and they deliver a huge impact to any project.

Baby You Can Drive My Car

I remember when I was 16 and taking my driver's exam to get my license. I was so excited and couldn't wait for the freedom I was sure to have once I had that piece of paper in my hand (yes, back then it was actually a piece of paper, not even laminated and easily altered - but that's another story).

This weekend, a dear friend's son just passed his driving test and I wanted to make him a little card to celebrate. This is what I came up with and I love it. The inside says "You passed the test, Driver!" I may just make another with some added bling and tuck it away for the day when my daughter gets behind the wheel. Don't worry, I'll warn you when that day comes. ;)

When I first opened my box and saw the new Amethyst and Emerald Flower Soft, I thought Mardi Gras! The colors are so vibrant. Unfortunately, I don't have any Mardi Gras themed stamps, so I went into Microsoft Word and found this adorable mask image among the clip art. And it was already colored! I printed it onto white CS and then used a nestabilities die to cut it out. I added Amethyst, Gold and Emerald Flower Soft to areas around the mask to give it dimension. I love the all the sparkle in the Diamond Range Flower Soft.

Another crazy week for me with back-to-back classes/workshops so I have a quick post today. I wanted to share one of the cards we made. If it seems familiar, it's because I made a similar one-layer card using PTI's Mehndi Medallion which you can see HERE. For this card, I changed the color scheme to reflect the Fall season, added some layers and I used a CTMH stamp set. I added bling to the centers of my doilies. It's amazing how when you change the color, the whole feel of a card also changes.

Best Things in Life

Happy Monday morning to you! I had a busy week last week with a sick kitty cat. She's feeling better today but it hasn't been an easy road, or a cheap one for that matter. The good news is that I was able to administer her pills without losing a finger and anyone who has ever had to pill a cat knows exactly what I am talking about.

Now on to my DT sample for this week's CAS Challenge at Splitcoast - the theme is cupcakes. Yummy! This delicious little card uses a stamp set from CTMH which I colored with copics. I punched out my image using a 1 3/4" circle punch and popped it up onto a piece of Hawaiian Shores cardstock cut with PTI's Mat Stack 3 die.

I added some glitter to the icing with a two-way glue pen. I also made a glitter border using 1/8" scor-tape. The saying comes from a mini stamp set I found in a clearance bin at Michael's.

You Warm My Heart

Last week's Splitcoaststampers CAS Challenge was to use the sketch from my Jar of Treasures card and I just want to say that I am amazed by the creativity! I was so inspired by the cards I saw and added many to my faves file. I tried to comment on as many as I could last week and was so happy that everyone enjoyed the sketch.

Now, on to my card for this week's CAS Challenge over at Splitcoast. This week was a photo inspiration challenge and the theme was breakfast. You can see the picture HERE. I chose to focus on the coffee and the colors within the picture. I picked Kraft cardstock as my base and stamped snowflakes in Vintage Cream ink. I added a Cranberry border on one side of my focal image and then added a couple of little heart confetti to the "steam". I'm not sure that the picture reflects this, but I also used my Sakura glitter pen to trace the swirls in the coffee cup giving it just that hint of glimmer.

Pencil Me In Wildflower and Some News

Yesterday, I learned that I am a semifinalist for the Heartfelt Creations Design Team. I was thrilled because I really like their stamps and matching Spellbinders dies, especially the flowers. Now I am just waiting on some goodies so I can make a couple of projects to submit for the final round.

In the meantime, there is a fun challenge over at Splitcoaststampers to use a No. 2 pencil to color in your image. I thought this would be fun to try. I had the perfect floral image from Heartfelt Creations to try this technique so I stamped the flower in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then got to work with my trusty pencil. This stamp makes it really easy to have your flower looking professionally colored in no time. When I was done, I thought the card needed just a little something so I added some bling to the center of my flower and called it a day. I love trying something new.

Flower Soft Fall Fun

Are you ready to celebrate Fall with some Flower Soft? Today some of the Flower Soft Design Team are bringing you creations with a Fall theme.

My card uses an image from Flower Soft's Scenic Window - Oriental. The original image shows a lush green garden, however I decided to make it look like the beginnings of Autumn. To accomplish this, I simply added Autumn Mix Flower Soft along the pathway, Burnt Sienna and Earth Ultra Fine on some of the bushes and then I made my own Fall mix using Burnt Sienna, Earth and Strawberry Ultra Fine for the tree and some of the other bushes. I added a sticker sentiment I had in my stash to complete this really easy card. I can't tell you how easy this was. It's truly amazing how a little Flower Soft can not only add dimension to a project, but can also completely alter the effect of an image.

Hello Friend

Today's CAS Challenge over at Splitcoaststampers is to make a card following a sketch. This time the sketch just so happens to mine.

Now I don't know about you, but I had a difficult time with this one. I think this is because every time I looked at the card, I had a hard time picturing anything different. Eventually, an idea came to me and this is my happy result.

I first stamped my sentiment and then placed a line of scor-tape above and below it and then added glitter. This is the same glitter that is outlining my flower. Isn't the flower just gorgeous! I learned how to make these this Summer at the CK Convention. My daughter and I took the class and we have been making them ever since. The set is called Aztec Gold Sunflowers from Heartfelt Creations. The flowers can be cut using a coordinating Spellbinders die. I used Inka-Gold paste from Viva Decor (which despite the name, comes in a variety of colors) to color my flower and then used a stylus to shape it.

Going Vintage for WCMD

Today is World Card Making day (there are links and info on my Thursday post) and I decided to step out of my comfort zone and make a vintage style Holiday card. I also decided to enter this into the PTI Make-it-Monday challenge since I used this week's technique of making your own chipboard embellishment.

I used cereal boxes to cut several layers with the Christmas Tree die and used Vintage Cream CS for the top layer. I stamped several lines from the Music Sheet background stamp and then assembled my "chipboard" using a glue stick. When it was dry, I sprayed with adhesive and covered the whole tree with glitter.

I used glimmer mist to color the Wilton doily to a complimentary color. I also ran the greeting through the Linen impression plate to add a more distressed feel and I sponged the edges of all the cardstock with ink.

I love how the tree looks and it was a lot of fun to make. I know I will be using this technique often.

'Tis the Season Clean and Simple

Hello and Happy Monday! It's time for another CAS Challenge over at Splitcoast and this week's theme is paper piecing. I have an admission to make. This is the first paper pieced project I have ever done so be kind. I'm not sure why, but I think it's as simple as I never got around to doing it even though it has been on my "tot ry" list since forever. Maybe it's because my "to try" list is now a "to try" binder.

Anyway, this is as CAS as they come. I stamped this adorable little tree image on some scrap patterned paper I had in my bin and then cut it out. If I were to hazard a guess, I would say it was a piece of retired CTMH holiday paper from a couple years back. I also stamped the tree onto a piece of Stamper's Select White and then glued my cut out patterned paper in the appropriate spot. I added a hint of glitter with my Sakura gel pen to the dots on the paper but unfortunately it's not showing in the picture.

I used a punch and some gold scrap paper for the star. I also added a tiny sparkle to the end of my sentiment. I really liked how this turned out and I think I'll be making a few more this Holiday season.

Flower Soft Circles Challenge

It's time for another Flower Soft Challenge! This week's challenge is to use circles on your project and you must use at least one Flower Soft product.

For my project I decided to make an interactive Christmas card using Flower Soft's Spellbinders Vintage Christmas Card Kit. I cut various sizes of circles and scalloped circles from cardstock and also from the images provided in the kit to create this stacked/nested card. I added some sheet music background stamping to the center circle for some added interest when the card is closed. I also sponged the edges of all the cardstock to further add to the vintage feel.

This is a picture of what the card looks like open. I stamped my greeting in the center of one of the beautiful frames provided in the kit. The other two images are also from the kit. Aren't they gorgeous?

Leaves of Gratitude

It's time for another CAS Challenge over at Splitcoast and here is my DT submission. The challenge is to use leaves on your clean and simple project.

When I think of Fall, I automatically think of the colorful leaves that this season brings. I start thinking about layering my clothing because some days start out chilly and then become warm. I decided to combine the two and came up with this CAS layered card.

I used a retired CTMH stamp set called Nature's Vein and employed the rock and roll technique to give the leaves the multi-colored look of Fall.. I love this set and was sad to see it go but if you're interested, Papertrey Ink does sell a set that is very similar called Leaf Prints.

Have a Sweet Day

I know Summer is almost over but I wanted to sneak in one more project before we turn to Fall. Besides, ice cream is an every season food in our house. So here's a birthday card I made for my daughter's BFF.

I ordered the dies from PTI but since I did not order the coordinating stamp set, I had to improvise for the cone. I stamped the smaller pattern from A Little Argyle onto the cone which was cut from Kraft cardstock. The scoops are felt and I was going for strawberry, vanilla and chocolate but my "chocolate" didn't arrive until after I completed my card so I went for "coffee". I used dimensionals to pop the whole image onto Rustic Cream cardstock (my new favorite).

I hope you are enjoying the last days of Summer and eating plenty of ice cream. I know I am!

A Box for Kristen

Today I want to share with you a project I made for my daughter's BFF. She has been asking me for one of these boxes since I made my first one a couple of years ago.

I used some Veranda paper from CTMH that I had left over. The top was made with some Prima roses and a large farbic flower I had in my stash. I added little wooden legs to the bottom that I had "painted" with a coordinating CTMH marker and then painted over with Pearl paint.

When you open the box, there are several smaller boxes. I filled three of these with some candy and my daughter added a necklace to the fourth as a surprise for her friend.

I forgot how much fun these were to create and what a great presentation they make.
